Project Overview
I designed a podcast feature concept for Duolingo that helps language learners practice listening through short, engaging audio stories.
The feature combines podcasts with interactive learning tools such as transcripts, vocabulary support, pronunciation practice, cultural context, and comprehension quizzes. My goal was to make listening practice feel less intimidating and more connected to Duolingo’s existing learning experience.
The Problem
Language learners often struggle to practice listening because native audio can feel too fast, unfamiliar, or difficult to follow.
Existing podcasts may provide useful exposure, but learners often need to leave the platform to look up words, review transcripts, or test their understanding. I wanted to create a more guided listening experience within Duolingo.

Design Approach
I structured the experience around three stages:
- Before: preview the topic and vocabulary
- During: follow the transcript and explore unfamiliar words
- After: complete a quiz and review key vocabulary
Outcome
The concept turns passive listening into a more guided and interactive learning experience while staying consistent with Duolingo’s playful product style.
